You may not be an Angel* yet – BUT NOW HERE’S YOUR CHANCE.
Castle Leod (seat of The Earl of Cromartie, Chief of Clan Mackenzie) has continuously inhabited (except in the immediate aftermath of the ’45) by the same family from the Twelfth Century the until the present day. This spring came the good news that Historic Scotland is making a grant to enable Phase II of the restoration to begin and we are engaged in supplementing their funding by launching the The Castle Leod Phase II Restoration Appeal with a very special event.
As the first grouse will not be gracing plates until Monday 13th this year, why not celebrate The Glorious Twelfth relaxing in The Drawing Room – newly restored after damage by spectacularly heavy rainfall earlier in the year:
Aonghas Grant (Ft. William) ‘the left-handed fiddler’, four times Royal National Mod Champion, undoubtedly one of our greatest traditional Highland Fiddle players.
Duncan MacGillivray (Nigg), Northern Meeting Gold Medalist, former member of The Battlefield Band, fine exponent of Piobaireachd, equally versatile on Small Pipe, Whistle and Guitar.
Ian Blake ‘Iain Dubh’ (Aultgrishan, Gairloch) past winner of Neill Gunn, Petra Kenney, John Muir prizes, latest collection Remembering Falstaff and Others, 2011, diehard.
We invite you to be an Angel, donating £30 to The Appeal and joining us to hear Truly Celestial Highland Music and Poetry with a leisurely interval for A Simply Heavenly Afternoon Tea: 3.30 Sunday August12th. It promises to be memorable occasion concluding by thanking you, courtesy Whyte and Mackay, with A Grateful Dram of Dalmore (originally a Mackenzie distillery.) Strathpeffer Games Saturday 11th

You may not be an angel,
’Cos angels are so few,
But, until the time that one comes along
I’ll string along with you.
